Narrated Ibn Abbas () who said to his companions:

I do not see anyone acting upon this verse, “O mankind, Indeed We created you male and female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another. Indeed, the most honourable of you is the one most conscious of Allah.” (49:13)

So a man says to another, “I am more honourable than you,” but no one is made honourable except by being conscious of Allah.
