Subject: Commentary on Sura 91 (The Sun) Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:36 am
The Sun
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful:
[91:1] By the sun and her morning light,
[91:2] and [by] the moon when it follows her,
[91:3] and [by] the day when it reveals her,
[91:4] and [by] the night when it enshrouds her.
[91:5] By the heaven and the One Who built it,
[91:6] and [by] the earth and the One Who spread it,
[91:7] and [by] the soul and the One Who proportioned it,
[91:8] and inspired to discern its vices and piety.
[91:9] Successful indeed will be the one who purifies it,
[91:10] and he will indeed have failed he who eclipses it.
[91:11] Thamūd denied because of their rebellious nature,
[91:12] when the most wretched of them was dispatched.
[91:13] But then the messenger of God said to them, ‘[This is] the she-camel of God, so let her have her drink!’
[91:14] But they denied him, then hamstrung her. So their Lord closed in on them because of their sin, and meted it equally [among them].
[91:15] And He does not fear the consequence of it.

Thanks for posting these (and other Suhaib Webb videos/links). I must confess to having heard of him previously but never having heard him speak. He is a really good talker masha'Allah and I urge others to listen to some of his talks. Insha'Allah I will download some of his longer talks to m iPhone for Ramadan listening.

I was listening to this too this morning but I got interrupted by a few short noisy critters.
The first guy is a really funny speaker and the second I have only heard once and he is interesting to hear as well. JazakAllah khair for posting Dahlia. That guy is cracking me up as I watch.

I am glad you liked it sisters.
I discovered Suhaib Webb this year and found myself attracted by many of his talks and lectures. He is very modeate and touches upon the very things that I like and raises the problems I see. I was wondering as I hardly find people like this except a few!
It turned out that he is studying at Al Azhar University in Egitto -- habibti Um el donia, hence the moderation, and he loves Egypt very much.
I discovered also that he was a success in a tour apparently arranged by Hamza Yusuf, another favourite. Subhana Allah!
