| Assalaam alaikum! I bought a Qur'an today. It is in English and it is called "A Translation by A. J. Arberry". I am hoping is is an acceptable translation, In shaa Allah. Is anyone familiar with this translation? | |

| wa alaikum assalam dear Evie,
Yes, of course.
Arberry's translation is one of the most famous and old translations. It is one of the acceptable old translations BUT still do not depend on one translation. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK.
Use it together with the Royal Aal Al Bayt translation I sent you in shaa Allah.
All the best :-).

| I have gotten my Yahya Emmerick Qur'an and I highly recommend that translation. I also like Syed Ahamed's translation. | |

| As I am reading the Holy Qur'an for the first time, is it acceptable for me to read this along with the Royal Aal Al Bayt translation for Ramadan? | |

| not familiar with that translation. If it makes you feel better I read about 4 different ones at a time to help me grasp the understanding. The Yahya translation breaks the ayah down using themes, it is very helpful. Just take your time and rememeber if you read something that does not sound right, ASK. Some translations are not good, there will always be an error in translation. The Qur'an in English has become like the bible, with it's many different translations. | |
