The Prophet, pbuh, commanded Muslims when they enter Egypt to treat the Copts amicably, "You will open Egypt [to Islam], and that a land where Carat is spoken of, so when you have opened it [to Islam], treat its people well, for they have a covenant and share blood relations with us” or he said, “ a covenant and in-lawship." [Sahih Muslim, Book of the Virtues of the Companions, Chapter of the Prophet’s Injunction Regarding the People of Egypt, No. 2543]
