The Plot in Brief:

The film is entitled As-Shaimaa after the Prophet's foster sister's name. Supposedly his sister in the film was the best singer in Arabia -- a change done to serve dramatic purposes since singing is impermissible in Islam, especially for women.

The film starts with the Prophet, pbuh, sending someone with gifts to the family that fostered him as a child. They all love him and believe in him except the sister's husband. He was so jealous and was angry when his wife sang about him and in support of the Prophet, pbuh.

She starts with a beautiful song to some of her hostile tribe members who came to listen to her and who resign to listening to a song about the Prophet, pbuh, when she rejects singing anything else.

The husband adored his wive and so did she, and the film shows their problem after she prohibits their marital life due to his obstinacy and insistence on remaining a polytheist and fighting the Prophet, pbuh.

The film shows the perversion that was in Arabia; how they fought the Prophet, pbuh, harshly; how they severed relations with Muslims; the conspiracies they plotted; how the Prophet, pbuh, eventually entered Mecca his hometown victorious after having to emigrate to Medina under severe persecution and pardoned all those captived including his sister's husband who eventually relents and reverts.

The part where they meet him with palm trees while she is singing marks his emigration to Medina and the famous song they sang then "The moon has risen upon us"

A Translation of the First Song in the Film

O Muhammad!

Chorus:

Allah's peace and blessings are on him
Allah's peace and blessings are on him.
Allah's peace and blessings are on him.]

How longing was the world for his coming!
Till its appointed time came!

It was beseeching God in secret,
And engaged in thanking Him (for blessing the world with him).

The horizon was illumined and smiling,
And the host of angels in the highest place in heaven was engaged in a hymn,
For the advent of our most honourable Muhammad.

How great is a Messenger lodged and brought up
by the God of Mercy!

How great is an honest man taught by Allah!
No Prophet has reached his status.

The most generous and most endowing [with great teachings],
The most eloquent and the best teacher,

The most truthful in making *takbeers and glorifying God.
The most truthful in making *takbeers and glorifying God.
[*saying Allahu Akbar, i.e God is the Greatest]

Chorus:

Allah's peace and blessings are on him
Allah's peace and blessings are on him.
Allah's peace and blessings are on him.

Wish *Beni Saad would be blissed with [* his tribe or folks]
A glimpse of the light of Muhammad.

He was amongst us as a baby to be lulled,
And was breast-fed by us and reached the age of reason,

And today if he submits himself to Allah [become a Muslim],
We follow suit.

If Only Beni Saad could know,
The noble status of our most hnourable Muhammad!
The noble status of our most hnourable Muhammad!

A Translation of the Very Famous Song Thought to Have Been Sung upon the Prophet's Arrival in Medina:

The moon has risen upon us from Thaneyyat Al Wadaa.
Thanks have become incumbent upon all of us supplicants to Allah.

O you who have been sent for ministry amongst us,
You have honoured Medina.
Welcome, O best of summoners [to Allah].

The moon has risen in the form of a Prophet
And an Arab Messenger
To spread the Qur'an as enlightenment and sacred light.

And how long have we spent our nights restless,
awaiting his arrival impatiently?

Today he has appeared clearly
by Thaneyyat Al Wadaa.

The moon has risen upon us and from his light our thirst has been quenched.
With the Messenger of Allah, O Yathrib, feel content,

[He is] the gift of Allah to us,
Who can pay back to Allah His debt?
Thanks have become incumbent upon all of us supplicants to Allah.

The moon has risen quite manifestly as a mercy to mankind,
And a bearer of good tidings and a warner,
A saviour as far as life is concerned and faith-wise.

We have been guided by Allah, and we have submitted, so we have thrived.

O you who have been sent for ministry among us,
Your injunctions are obeyed.
